For consideration

Delivering the platform as an art prize design would contribute to:

  • highlighting AGL’s position as an innovative market leader in renewable energies and the breadth of its corporate community citizenship

  • promoting the solar plant as site of innovation

  • developing capacity for audiences, partnerships and project links between stakeholders interested in renewable energies and environmental sustainability

  • creating an architectural and sculptural asset for tourism, continuing the reputation of Broken Hill as an artistic hub

  • an additional platform to foster the environmental art movement

  • a promotional feature highlighting Broken Hill as a progressive and innovative city

  • an iconic statement, that would work towards reframing Broken Hill’s heritage as a rich mineral mining resource centre and now transitioning to a renewable and sustainable future

a significant asset contributing to the vision for Broken Hill in responding to the energy needs of the 21st century – from the legacy of 130 years of continuous mining to ‘mining’ solar power. This is the video put together with the Climate Institute recently that refers to broken Hill and mining the sun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtkXFMuLv0A
