RETURN TO BROKEN HILL

The Disparate Six is a group of artists who over the past 15 months have worked in a studio environment in the Blue Mountains, exhibiting work as a group with the Nolan on Lovell Gallery in Leura. In October 2015 they visited Broken Hill, as artists in residence at the Broken Hill Art Exchange. Inspired by the local environment the group produced new individual and group artworks which culminated in a group exhibition.

The artists in the Disparate Six group represent a wide range of professional skills including:

Valerie Aked, Gold and Silversmith
Neal Mortensen, Environmental Architect
Barbara Baird, Bush Regenerator
Glenice Ware, Interior Designer
Maureen O’Leary, Arts Management
Margot Turner, Curator

Together as a group they are re engaging their passion for artistic expression. In the lead up to the Desert Equinox Solar Art Prize and exhibition members of the group hosted local community workshops. The workshops included a ‘Paper dyeing Workshop presented by Glenice Ware and Annette Coulter and a ‘Making Sundials workshop presented by Neal Mortenson.
