Paul Adcock

Paul Adcock was in residence at the Broken Hill Art Exchange in 2016. Paul's experience includes Community Development. His project was titled the 'Kitchen Gallery & Heritage Courtyard Development Project'. He provided project and program development assistance for the Kitchen Gallery Project and capacity development in the heritage building to host felt making workshops and exhibitions.

The Kitchen Gallery project involves the renovation of a free standing kitchen from the 1880’s and six sample rooms from the same period.  The kitchen and sample rooms are hidden behind the site of the old Grand Hotel on Broken Hill’s main street and are adjacent the town square (Image top right).

The kitchen which once provided a street front bar and upstairs restaurant food for the patrons of The Grand, is being redeveloped as the Kitchen Gallery.  The sample rooms, used until the early 1950’s as a base for travelling sales people for display, distribution and as wholesale and as retail outlets are being redeveloped as a display and workshop area.  

Helena Lloyd

Helena Lloyd is painter and mixed-media artist from South East Queensland developing her latest project "Outback Study" as Artist in Residence at the Broken Hill Art Exchange.

Helena Lloyd was hosting a workshop for those interested in learning and sharing in these skills.

During the three week residency Helena Lloyd developed a body of work consisting of paintings an mixed media drawings examining the local natural environment. This involved materials sourced from the local natural environment such as earth pigments, handmade brushes & mark making tools and the production of studies made outdoors enplein air.

Her interests in the challenges of depicting a new landscape an the sensation of space, openness, vastness, harshness an beauty. Helena planned to use the materials she has gathered in this residency to develop futher work, for an exhibition based on her centeral Australia Broken Hill residency later in 2016. 

Marie Lund

Marie was born in Prague, Czech Republic, where she graduated from two Czech Universities, Palacky University in Olomouc, M Art Ed, and Charles University in Prague, Dr Art Ed.. Marie was a full-time art and photography teacher for more than twenty years in Australia, Europe and Asia.

She had participated in more than 50 group exhibitions, since 1990 and has had thirteen solo exhibitions. Marie is a member of NAVA, PhotoAccess, Eurobodalla Photographic Society and number of other arts organisations and has been the recipient of several grants and awards.

Marie was a participant of the Artist in Residence program through the Broken Hill Art Exchange in 2016, during this time she held a workshop and called Travel Sketching.
